quarterly report is strong showing steep sales increase especially across North America, the Southwest for example, booming, production costs decreasing (although inflation is knocking out our knees a bit there), gross margins are up, profits are up, COGS are down, share pricing ticking up, likely we can open a new plant, we’re doing quite well this year, i think you should be proud

            the CEO doesn’t respond

            just stares at the employee

EMPLOYEE
i love working under you because, because, because, i don’t even know where to begin, i feel deeply managed by you, not overmanaged, the right amount, i have advancement, i have a whole team, i manage, i manage just like you, i’m proud of my team like you’re proud of your team, i study your techniques, i read your Medium articles, listened to your podcast interviews, the one in particular about identifying what problem your company solves and going after only that, so smart, i think about it all the time

            the EMPLYOEE enters dragging a bloody dead ram

            the EMPLOYEE hoists the ram onto the CEO’s desk

            it lands with a thud

EMPLOYEE
i didn’t cry when i cut its throat
i thought you’d be proud

            the CEO doesn’t anything

            the EMPLOYEE collapses in sobs on top of the ram

            the CEO stands

            kisses the weeping EMPLOYEE on the head

            gently

            the crying stops

            the EMPLOYEE looks up at the CEO
