Not to eat or drink on Yom Kippur (Lev. 23:29)
CW: Violent imagery
a grand hall
at the center is a table that could easily seat one hundred people
at the head of the table sits the LORD
he waits to be served
a PEASANT enters carrying platters of food
the PEASANT lays out a feast of venison and breads and exotic fruits
the PEASANT finishes setting the table
waits expectantly
the LORD shoos the PEASANT out of the room
the PEASANT exits
the LORD eats his entire meal in real time
however long it takes
on his very last bite
he starts choking
he tried to dislodge the food stuck in his throat
but it’s no use
he stumbles about in distress
knocking plates and silverware over
he slumps down on the table
dead
the PEASANT enters again
stares at the dead LORD for a long time
a RABBI enters
also stares at the dead LORD
then looks at the PEASANT
RABBI
the sun is almost down
Yom Kippur is almost over
PEASANT
thank you rabbi
the RABBI exits
the PEASANT waits for the sun to set
as soon as it is dark
the PEASANT grabs a fork and knife
cuts a chunk out of the dead LORD’s arm
puts it in his mouth
chews it happily
savoring his bite
the PEASANT continues cutting up and cannibalizing the LORD
utterly content
